The Mannock Medical Centre opens
These are exciting times for the patients and staff of Abbey Medical Practice. After a long wait we are at last housed in our purpose built surgery. We hope you like the new premises and look forward to your comments.
There have been many changes at the practice since the fire at Gold Street. We were housed temporarily in Hemmingwell and despite various problems like limited parking space and lack of space our patients remained loyal to the practice and we strived to provide the best service possible.
We hope the new premises will provide ample parking space and you will find the the consulting rooms larger.
We plan to use the first floor to see routine appointments and the ground floor for same day urgent appointments. We continue to provide our usual clinics.

Why is the centre called Mannock Medical Centre?
Mick Mannock is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighter pilots in First World War.
Although born in Ireland,Wellingborough was his adopted home. He began his flying career in Wellingborough and is credited with 73 victories . He was awarded the Victoria Cross posthumously.
This medical centre which houses GP surgeries, a dental surgery and chemist is named in his honour.
Artwork at Abbey
The artwork that can be seen on display on both our floors in the reception and waiting areas is part of a project done by the Arts Department at Wrenn School in Wellingborough.
Their arts’ teacher, Miss Emily Conway contacted the practice to enquire about the possibility of students preparing art work that would relate to Mannock and would provide a calming influence to the patients.
We are proud of their work and hope you enjoy the students’ work as much as we do.
A big thanks to Jessica Robinson, Jake Mc Lester, Faye Readman, Nick Myers and Miss Emily Conway for their effort.
Patient Participation
We have formed a new patient reference group. This a group that would comprise of patients and practice staff, listening to the patients and involving them in various changes taking place across the practice and NHS locally. If you are interested in having a say in how your surgery runs, please contact the practice manager. Our first meeting is on 20th December 2011. Further details are available on our website.
If you are unable to attend the meeting but are keen to contribute, please join our online virtual patient group. Further information on our website www.abbeymedicalpractice.uk.com
