SWINE FLU – vaccinations

The Practice has received an initial delivery of the H1N1 (swine flu) vaccine and we have commenced contacting patients to offer them the opportunity to be vaccinated.

We shall be adhering to the current guidance from the Department of Health (as at 23rd November) which states that the H1N1 vaccination is to be offered to the following at-risk groups in the order shown below:

1.      Individuals aged between six months and up to 65 years in the current seasonal flu vaccine clinical at-risk groups (we recently wrote to you offering you the opportunity to have the seasonal flu vaccination)

2.      All pregnant women, subject to licensing conditions on which is the appropriate trimester to administer the vaccine
3.      Household contacts of immuno-compromised individuals
4.      People aged 65 and over in the current seasonal flu vaccine clinical at-risk groups (we recently wrote to you offering you the opportunity to have the seasonal flu vaccination)
5.      Healthy children aged 6 months and over to under 5 years.
We understand that the coming weeks will be an uncertain time for everyone but rest assured that we will be doing all that we can to offer you the opportunity to receive the vaccination whilst following the Department of Health’s guidance.  We will contact you if you fall within the at-risk groups shown above so there is no need for you to contact the Practice.
