If you require a sick note when you come out of Hospital, please ask the Hospital Doctor that treated you for this.
The Consultant (or their Registrar) or Doctor can issue sick notes and can issue for more than one or two weeks. They are able to issue you with the appropriate sick note according to your condition with which they treated you for. The Hospital has an obligation to provide you with your sick note and not to refer you to your GP for this.
Situations such as this are incredibly frustrating for you, the patient, as you are referred back to the Hospital.
We are inundated with queries from our patients relating to the above and our staff try their hardest to assist, however, the GP is not able to issue you a sick note following treatment and care in Hospital.
