New Electronic Repeat Dispensing (eRD)

What is it?

Electronic Repeat Dispensing is a process that allows the Practice to issue 12 months prescriptions to your nominated Pharmacy, for certain repeat medication, which will be dispensed by them monthly. So, there will be no need for you to place your online prescription or submit paper request to the Practice.

We are looking to transfer many of our patients to this process which saves patient time and frees up our Practice staff to focus on supporting our patients in other areas.

Please read below and if you would like to move to this new service, or have any questions, please book a telephone appointment with one of our Clinical Pharmacists.

Patients who may be eligible for eRD include:

  • Patients on stable medication – no change in their medication in at least 10 of the last 12 months – no anticipated change in their medication in the next six or 12 months – suitable dosage regimens
  • Patients with stable, long term medical conditions – no recent unplanned hospital admissions in the last six months – no new conditions diagnosed in the last six months
  • Patients on multiple therapy e.g diabetes, hypertension, asthma
  • Patients on short term medication e.g. until their condition is reviewed
  • Patients that can appropriately self-manage seasonal condition

Exclusion criteria – Some medicines are not suitable or eligible for eRD. These include:

  • Controlled drugs (including temazepam and tramadol)
  • Benzodiazepines
  • Hypnotics
